This Monday, 31 st May 2010 in KHI was held a workshop on Qualitative Research. The workshop was organized by the Nursing Faculty in Collaboration with the KHI Research Committee. The workshop conducted by Jennifer GRAY from Texas University aimed at equipping the participants with skills of moving from a research idea through development of a proposal for a study that would be rigorous, feasible and significant.

In that one day workshop, students and academic staff who attended got full knowledge about qualitative and quantitative research.

Through group discussions, presentations and learning activities, participants selected a qualitative method to match a specific research objective. They also used content analysis to identify themes in an interview transcript. Participants also discussed about the protection of the rights of the subjects in the area of study. At last, the participants proposed strategies to overcome challenges that may arise in the qualitative research.

All participants commended KHI Research Committee and The Faculty of the Nursing Sciences for having organized that workshop. As one of the participants revealed, the workshop added much on their knowledge about qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection which will help them in their research activities.
